We have taken the leap into adoption. We have signed on and have a spot with our agency. There are several next steps for us. We need to get started on a home study, our profile book and as the agency describes “adoption-nesting”. We never thought we would need to get stuff for a future child until we were matched with an expectant mother. However, it makes sense. The shortest time in the frame they gave us was nine months. This is the average term of a pregnancy and people start to nest as soon as they find out they are pregnant.
We never thought we would be diving head first into this process, but we know that God will provide for us. This is evident in the fact that just talking with a few friends after church on Wednesday we have the makings of a full “nursery”. Praise God! We always knew that our friends would support us if we ever fell pregnant, but to see it really happen with adoption is just great.
We are tackling this process hardcore. Our adoption consultant will help us build our profile book and our profile website to be shared with the expectant mothers as they find the right family to care for their child. We are reaching out to Hennepin County to schedule a home study to begin. In the midst of all this, we are also very overwhelmed (in a good way) with the amount of support and encouragement that has already rolled in.
At least I shouldn’t have to wait 40 years… is the thought…
