A Letter to Our Future Baby

Dear Love,

We do not know you yet.  You could be a boy or a girl.  You could be any race.  You could be from any state.  You will not know what your future holds.  But you will know who holds your future.  You may never have a relationship with your tummy mom or she could be a welcome addition to our family.  Though things may seem uncertain, there is one thing you can rely on: We love you.

Your mother and I struggled to have a baby together and so we prayed and God led us to adoption.  Adoption is a beautiful thing.  We began the process by highlighting everything about us in a short 12 page book.  That book was then shared with lots of different tummy moms who were looking for the perfect family for their baby.  This was the time that your mother and I struggled with the most, but we knew that God had you in mind and we loved you even before we knew you.

God writes through the man of Job the words we felt for you before you were even in our arms.  Job 10:10-12: “You guided my conception and formed me in the womb. You clothed me with skin and flesh, and you knit my bones and sinews together. You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care.”  We knew that wherever you were, whenever you were, that God has already shown unfailing love towards you and we will continue to do the same as you grow up.

One last thing we want to leave with you, a prayer that you do not struggle with infertility.  An unquenchable desire for children is one of the worst things that we have faced in our marriage.  But we clung to the words of Paul in Romans 5:3-5: “… we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Love you forever and always,

Mom & Dad

God’s time is not our time. Patience–Faith–REWARD! I ache for you–for your longing for your baby in your arms. Think how much more sweet that day will be because of the anticipation!? God has one particular baby in mind for you. You two are amazing and will be incredible parents. Can I put you on the ORLC prayer chain so others can pray with you and for you!! PRAYER IS POWERFUL!! Blessings to you–in God’s time and in God’s way. I love you two!
